Library Services

Books
The library has a collection of over 45,000 books.  Categories include fiction, non-fiction, large print, and children’s.  All books may be checked out for two weeks and renewed if not on a hold list.

Reference Books
These books cannot be checked out, but may be enjoyed in the Library.

Audio Books
The audio books are very popular at the library and can be checked out for two weeks. 

Magazines
We have 114 magazines, 24 of which are for children.  The newest magazines cannot be checked out, but all others can for two weeks.

Newspapers
The library has a subscription to 7 different newspapers:  Daily – Courier Journal, Kentucky New Era, Paducah Sun, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.  Weekly – The Cadiz Record and the Tennessean (Sunday) & The New York Times online

DVD’s & TV Seasons
DVD’s can be checked out for two days, TV Seasons can be checked out for two weeks.  The patron must be 18 years old, have a library card in good standing, and have checked something out and brought it back before they may check out videos. 

Music CD’s
The CD collection contains a broad array of types including country, gospel, classical, rock, and many more.  Patrons may check out music CD’s for two weeks.

Interlibrary Loan
The library can borrow books from any library in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as twelve other states.  This is a free service so we do not borrow from other libraries that charge a fee.  Just fill out the Interlibrary Loan Form with the title and author and we will search for it.  It may take up to two weeks to receive the book.

Genealogy
The Genealogy Department in the library has over 1,000 books that cover Trigg County, surrounding counties, and states.  We have several local family histories as well.  We have a large collection of microfilm including Trigg Co. Order Books, Deed Books, Tax Assessment Books, Cadiz Record 1905-1908, 1911, 1933-1941, 1946-1972, Will Books, Marriages, Deaths, and Births.  We also have an index to birth, death, marriage, and divorce records on microfiche.

Notary Public
This service is free.  You must show proper identification.

Laminator
8x10 for $1.00; 4x5 for .50; 2x3 for .25

Heritage Quest
Heritage Quest is a Genealogy database that can be accessed through our webpage.  All you need is your library card; you will need to type in your library barcode to connect.

Ancestry Online Genealogy, Fold3 & Newspapers.com
This database is set up on the computers and laptop in the library.

Copier
.25 for 8.5x11 or legal size color copies .50

Fax
$1.00 for the first page and .50 for each additional page for sending or receiving.

Public Access Computers
We have 6 computers that have access to the Internet, Microsoft Office, and much more. 

Public Access Laptops
We have 12 laptop computers equipped with access to the Internet, Microsoft Office, and are networked to the printer.  Patrons must be 18 years old to use the laptops.

Wireless Internet Access
Patrons can bring their own wireless devices to access the Internet. 

Microfilm/Microfiche Reader/Printer
You can look at old Cadiz Record articles, death records and much more and print the page for only .20.

Storytime
Wednesdays are very special at the library because it’s Storytime.  Preschool children can enjoy books, songs, movies, and much more on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Summer Reading
Summer Reading is a wonderful program for children from 2-12.  This program runs every Wednesday in July.

Outreach programs
The Children’s Librarian makes weekly visits to all daycares and preschools for Storytime and Summer Reading programs.  She also does Adult Storytime and Summer Reading at the nursing homes.

Meeting Rooms
The library has two meeting rooms.  The Board Room in the library is available for small groups of 20 or less and is only open during library hours.  The Basement meeting room is one large room with eight long tables and about 80 chairs.  Both rooms have access to a data projector.  The rooms are to be used by non-religious, non-political, and non-profit groups.  Meetings must be scheduled in advance.

KYVL & KYVU Access
Access to these websites is available on the library computers as well as online from our webpage.  To receive the access user id and password, call or stop by the library.

Free Tax Service with RSVP
The free tax service available from February 1 until April 15.  You may call the library to make an appointment.  This is a free service for anyone, but Senior Citizens have priority.

Online Card Catalog
Our card catalog can be accessed online from our webpage.  Patrons can search for books, audios, CD’s, & DVD’s.  Patrons can see what they have checked out, see if they owe fines and check the status of any books they have on hold.  To check this information, click on My Infor, type in your barcode number from your library card, and your password is your last name.

E-Books, E-Audios, & E-Magazines
